Job Description
Bruce County, Brucelea Haven Long Term Care (LTC) in collaboration with Elgin Abbey LTC is currently seeking qualified applicants for the full time contract position of Attending Nurse Practitioner (Attending NP). This is a joint role created by the LHIN to support comprehensive resident care between two long term care homes located in Walkerton and Chesley. Reporting to the Director of Nursing at Brucelea Haven, the Attending NP collaborates with the resident and family/caregiver, and the health care team in the development, implementation and evaluation of the resident’s plan of care. They will provide leadership and mentorship to staff and work to enhance their knowledge, assessment skills, and ability to care for residents. The Attending NP also leads and collaborates in research, education and evidence-based practice initiatives to optimize the resident, LTC and health system outcomes.
Job Requirements
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (Primary Health Care or Adult) and entitled to practice, • Post-graduate education and experience in gerontology, considered an asset • Specialty certification in gerontological nursing, considered an asset Post-graduate certificate and experience in palliative care, considered an asset • 3 years of previous experience in a nursing capacity • 1 year of previous experience in a geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting • Exceptional documentation and communication skills • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting working relationships • Demonstrated time management skills • Effective leadership skills, with a focus on teaching and coaching • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
