We are recruiting for a NURSE PRACTITIONER, Eating Disorders Program
– This is a regular part-time position (21 hours per week) based at 80 Waterloo Ave. Guelph. Working from a holistic and recovery oriented paradigm, the Nurse Practitioner provides identification and management of eating disorder complications including mental health treatment and support to clients while participating in the community based services of the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington’s Eating Disorder Program. Working collaboratively with other members of the Eating Disorders Team, the Nurse Practitioner will also assist clients in accessing primary health care in the community and serve as a connection to community physicians and inpatient programs. Assistance to more complex cases and participation in group education services and prevention initiatives of the program may also be a function of this position. This position reports to the Manager, Eating Disorders Service. The incumbent requires:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
Nurse Practitioner’s Certificate from a recognized program and registration in the Extended Class (EC) with the Ontario College of Nurses
3-5 years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner
1-2 years of recent clinical nursing experience relevant to chronic disease management, mental health care and treatment, emergency care and/or urgent care
Ability to function in a full scope NP role in a collaborative and interdisciplinary primary care setting
Strong health assessment and diagnosis skills
Self-directed individual with strong team skills
High degree of flexibility
Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within populations who face barriers to accessing care (living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories including trauma, 2SLGBTQI+)
Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
Highly developed organizational, communication and problem solving skills
Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and various database software
Ability to work with all levels of the organization
