Job Description

Pay: $75.00/hr
Job Type: Casual or Part Time.
Casual expectation is one 8hr shift per month
Part Time: 32hrs per pay period
Hours: 8:30AM – 16:30PM

INTRODUCTION
GreenNPC is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to support patient care in a hybrid, autonomous NP led clinic. The NP will provide primary care and continuous care toward the management of patients’ health in the primary care setting. The NP will diagnose, treat, and manage acute medical needs in the urgent care setting.

Here are some of the main activities and tasks that GreenNPC Nurse Practitioners have to perform, and some of the physical demands they involve:

â—Ź Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health
â—Ź Accepts clinical responsibility and professional accountability for the care delivered to assigned patients
â—Ź Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans
â—Ź Provide urgent care management for primary care patients and walk-in patients
â—Ź Advise patients and their families on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention
â—Ź Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues

â—Ź Perform patient advocacy role
â—Ź Coordinate and manage primary patient care
â—Ź Refers patients to specialists if necessary and analyzes medical records and reports.
â—Ź Updates patient charts and documents to Electronic Health Record (TelusCHR) software.
â—Ź Performs minor procedures: injections, sutures, splinting
â—Ź Report births, deaths, and contagious and other diseases to governmental authorities
â—Ź Responsible for ensuring appropriate patient billing

NURSE PRACTITIONER EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. Registered Nurse Extended Class License in good standing with the College of Nurses Ontario
2. Current CPR
3. Maintains Professional Liability Insurance with the RNAO or CNPS
4. Minimum 5 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a relevant clinical setting
5. Previous experience working as NP in a fast-track clinic setting preferred
6. CASTED training/course preferred

SKILLS & ABILITY
1. High level of proficiency with Electronic Medical Records applications
2. Ability to think critically and multitask in a fast-paced environment
3. Ability to organize and manage an office setting and work collaboratively with team members.
4. Experience supervising staff including performance management, and task direction.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, and exercise judgment by participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to college standards.
6. Behavior consistent with the clinic’s Standards of Performance and values.
