Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative individual for the position of Nurse Practitioner to provide primary care and medical management of substance use disorders. Function as a practitioner, leader, consultant, educator, and advocate in a multidisciplinary care team in the implementation, evaluation, and provision of high quality, client-centered care.
The ideal candidate will minimally be a Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and hold current certification of Registration as an RN (Extended Class), in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. In addition, the candidate will demonstrate the following:
• Experience and knowledge in addiction medicine.
• Experience working within the homeless and precariously housed population.
• Experience in the development of strategies to build capacity and improve health outcomes.
• Experience in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
• Promoting the use of research and evidence-based practice to guide client-centered care.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
This position entails providing substance use treatment and episodic primary care to individuals within Health Sciences North’s Outpatient Addictions programs including the Rapid Access Addictions Medicine Clinic, Outpatient Addictions and Gambling Service and the Lotus program. HSN’s RAAM clinic is a low barrier, walk in clinic for individuals looking for support with their substance use. This clinic provides best evidence substance use treatment to clients in person and online throughout the Greater Sudbury area. The RAAM clinic works collaboratively with the outpatient addictions and gambling service that provides individual and group based psychosocial treatment to clients looking for support with their substance use. The program also works collaboratively with the Lotus Program, HSN’s transitional housing program for high-risk individuals experiencing chronic homelessness.
