Nurse Practitioner Opportunities at the Region of Peel

1. Nurse Practitioner – Malton Village Long Term Care
Location: Malton Village LTC, 7075 Rexwood Road, Mississauga
Status: Contract Full-Time (14 months)
Salary: $125,186–$156,484 per annum, plus comprehensive benefits
Work Mode: On-site​

Role Overview:
Join our dynamic team to provide compassionate, emotion-based care to residents with medically complex needs. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to enhance healthcare delivery and outcomes.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor Registered Staff in delivering top-quality clinical care.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with physicians, families, and decision-makers to manage acute and chronic conditions.
  • Manage the High Intensity Needs budget, order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and make informed clinical decisions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through education and collaboration.​

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (Primary Health Care or Adult).
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • CPR certification for healthcare professionals and standard first aid.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed to Regional standards.
  • Advanced expertise in assessing and treating older adults with conditions like delirium, cognitive impairments, and behavioral disturbances.​

2. Nurse Practitioner – Neuro-Behavioural
Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton (servicing multiple LTC homes in the Central West region)
Status: Contract Full-Time (13 months)
Salary: $125,186–$156,484 per annum, plus comprehensive benefits

Role Overview:
As a Neuro-Behavioural Nurse Practitioner (NBNP), you will apply advanced clinical expertise to manage behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, providing individualized care and overseeing both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive assessment and documentation.
  • Educate staff, support families, and enhance quality of care through ongoing professional development.
  • Lead and mentor staff in delivering person-centered care following the Butterfly Model of Care.​

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (Primary Health Care or Adult).
  • CPR certification for healthcare professionals and standard first aid.
  • Advanced skills in the assessment, diagnosis, management, and treatment of older persons with delirium, depression, cognitive impairment, confusion, and behavioural disturbances.
  • Proven accurate documentation and dictation skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.​
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Post-graduate education and experience in geriatric or long-term care, rehabilitation, medical/surgical.
  • Public sector experience in support of diverse programs and services.
  • Specialty certification in Gerontological nursing.​
