The Moose Deer Point Health Centre Nursing Station celebrated its opening officially today. The Health Centre at 1025 C Mitawbik Road, Moose Deer Point First Nation, is the result of a collaboration between Moose Deer Point First Nation Band Chief and Council, Ontario’s Ministry of Health, and the West Parry Sound Health Centre.
Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement and MP Rob Clarke, Chair of the Government of Canada’s Aboriginal Caucus, were two of the dignitaries on hand this afternoon. Clement congratulated the new health centre and its collaborative partners on opening a new location and expanding services to the community, saying:
“The Nursing Station is a shining model of success, as rural communities find creative ways to improve primary care. The additional facilities being opened here today will only further improve access to quality medical care for people in this region, including First Nations community members, and the many tourists and cottagers who come here year after year.”
