Join us on November 4 for Weakness, Fatigue or Something More? Recognizing Neuromuscular Disorders in an Era of New Treatments webinar! https://loom.ly/f5phi9I
This session will review diagnostic tools to differentiate true neuromuscular weakness from common mimics while recognizing red-flag patterns of conditions like MG, CIDP, amyloidosis, and ALS. Participants will master evidence- based triage protocols, determining exactly when to initiate urgent neurology referrals and EMG testing. Finally, the course highlights how recent breakthrough therapies have transformed these disorders, underscoring why early, accurate recognition is vital to preventing irreversible neurological damage.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this case-based session, participants will be able to:
 Differentiate true muscle weakness from fatigue, sensory impairment, pain-limited movement and balance dysfunction.
 Use symptom pattern, distribution and progression to recognize features suggestive of MG, CIDP, amyloidosis and ALS—including bulbar, respiratory and rapidly progressive red flags.
 Determine when neuromuscular investigations, EMG testing, urgent assessment and neurology referral are appropriate.
 Explain how advances in targeted neuromuscular treatments reinforce the importance of timely recognition, investigation and referral

Dr. Wilma Koopman is a nurse practitioner (NP) and has focused her career on being a better nurse throughout her 50 years in neuroscience nursing practice at London Health Sciences Centre.
