Mental Health and Insomnia in Primary Care: Where do you start?

Learning Objectives:
1. Recognize the bidirectional relationship between sleep and mental health, and identify when insomnia requires treatment
2. Describe the role of orexin in the sleep-wake cycle and its relevance to mental health
3. Discuss selecting appropriate non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments for mental health patients with insomnia

SPEAKER:

Alexandra Milne is an academically appointed Nurse Practitioner and the Chief of the Medical Officer of Care and Family Health. She serves as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Toronto, is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society Of Nursing, sits on the committee for the Collaborative CME and Research Network, and serves as co-chair for the NPAO Independent Practice Community of Practice.
