Anishnawbe Health Toronto Our mission: to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal People in spirit, mind, emotion and body by providing Traditional Healing within a multidisciplinary health care model EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Nurse Practitioner, Mobile Medical Clinic 6—month contract with the possibility of extension (F/T or P/T) Anishnawbe Health Toronto, a fully accredited community health centre, offers access to health care practitioners from many disciplines including Traditional Healers, Elders and Medicine People. We are recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner to join our Mobile Medical Clinic team on either a full-time or part-time basis and provide evidence-informed care to clients who are homeless and sleeping outside, street involved or precariously housed. Besides testing for CoVid-19 the Nurse Practitioner will be delivering primary care, medication review and follow up as well as screening for other diseases and working to stabilize chronic conditions and complex health issues. Responsibilities: • Develop and lead health care interventions and educational programs directed to Indigenous community members who are sleeping outside and are street-involved • Facilitate CoVid testing on the Mobile Medical Clinic • Perform thorough client health assessments and clinical duties within scope of practice • Determine appropriate healing path in conjunction and collaboration with the client, other health care providers and Mobile Medical Clinic team • Contribute to the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, protocols and best practices related to mobile health care • Proactively identify and address new and emerging trends regarding community health • Assist with the evaluation process for the Mobile Medical Clinic with an emphasis on CoVid testing procedures • Maintain an inventory of PPE and medical supplies and ensure the appropriate/secure storage • Monitor and ensure the quality performance of all medical equipment and report any sub-standard or non-performance of same Anishnawbe Health Toronto offers a competitive salary, a commitment to your professional development and a supportive workplace environment. Job Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Nursing; current registration in the Extended Class (RNEC) with the College of Nurses of Ontario; successful completion of a Controlled Substances Prescribing course
  • A comprehensive understanding of addictions and Indigenous health issues connected to homelessness; knowledge of other issues facing the Indigenous community, e.g., the effects of the residential school and post-colonial syndromes
  • Two years of clinical experience with mental health and addictions preferred
  • Well-developed skills in self-direction, interpersonal communications, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, conflict resolution and scholarly inquiry
