Judith Shamian said she’s been given a dream opportunity to influence to health of people and nursing, after being elected president of the International Council of Nurses.
Shamian, the past president of the Canadian Nurses Association and former CEO of the Victorian Order of Nurses, will serve a four-year term. The results were announced at a congress attended by 83 countries Sunday in Melbourne, Australia.
“It’s a position that comes with responsibility and opportunity to make a difference,” Shamian said. “There is only one other Canadian that has held this post in the last 100 years.”
