  • Updates on previous projects: 
    • Health Economics Analysis – Kathryn & QIMMS 
      • Data from the 3 pilot NPLCs was sent to the Research group. Data
        • Data includes full interdisciplinary team
      • Waiting for signature of the agreement before analysis can begin. The agreement was signed between the NPLCA and the group to be reviewed by the NPLCA executive.
      • Researcher decided to submit the project to approval by the Ethics Research board. Application was submitted and waiting for approval.
      • Specification that results are for internal purposes, not for public publishing
      • Timeline: hoping to hear back from NPLCA executive in the next week. Researchers are ready to start the analysis. Expect to have the analysis completed within 2-3 months.
  • NPLCA website – Marcela 
    • Received 3 quotes and have decided to proceed with Duncan Montford.
    • Meeting scheduled for next week to discuss specifications
    • Update will be sent to the group once we have a timeline.
  • Media Strategy – Pauline 
    • Committee meeting every two weeks, developing the Terms of Reference.
    • A survey will be sent to all clinics asking some key-questions that will help us develop our media strategy.
    • Recommendations will be shared with the executive committee and once approved, shared with the group.
    • Recommendations will probably be done by April/May
    • This will be different than the work being done by NPAO because will focus on highlighting the NPLCs specifically.
    • Concern about managing how media/public awareness campaigns will bring more patients to calls the clinics, when they have no more capacity to take more patients.
      • How can we use the fact that NPLCs have wait lists as a campaign to increase funding to existing clinics so they can hire more NPs.
      • Use patient stories to promote NPLCs
      • Amplify the message with something like the “NPs: It’s about time” campaign that NPAO ran a few years ago.
    • Suggestion that the media strategy should focus on promoting team-based care.
    • Include strategy to educate/inform ministry officials.
    • Stephanie Nevins – “NP inventory” event was very helpful in promoting NPs. Stephanie will share a template with the group.
  • OHT compensation statement – Paula & Claudia 
    • NPAO/NPLC joint statement has been circulated on social media and is also being sent to key stakeholders
    • Statement focus on the principles of compensation and that the government needs to define compensation rules that are cross-province.
  • One time funding for MH&A
    • No updates yet.
    • Expectations are that funding needs to be used by the end of the fiscal year (March 31st)
  • R&R for 2021/2022- Claudia
    • Confirmed with Fernando that the 3 year funding has been met and the expectation is to hold the funding as is for the near future.
    • This means there are no plans for increases in the next two years
    • Question regarding operational overhead funding changes
      • No mention from Fernando, but it is something that needs to be discussed
    • Considering how long the initial discussions about R&R took, should we be looking at start discussions on new increases now, targeting 2022.
  • COVID questions/updates – deferred
    • Discussion re: staff choosing not to get COVID vaccine 
    • Discussion re: policy around potential covid outbreaks

  • Other agenda items: 
    • NPLCA meetings with the MOH – updates on discussions – Claudia
      • Meeting with Jonathan Lamb from the evaluation branch of Ontario Health to discuss issues surrounding enrollment to NPs
  • NPLCA 2021/2022 Budget/AOP – Mike Vidal
    • In the process of defining NPLCA budget for 2021/2022
    • Have surplus funding from previous years, so we are open for suggestion of one time funding for the year
    • Suggestions:
      • Develop a NPLCA video highlighting NPLCs
      • Media training from an expert to provide recommendations and training on how to position NPLCs
  • MRI Education – Stephanie Nevins – deferred
  • Data Strategy Update â€“ What work has been done? And what clinics should be doing proactively from a data perspective â€“ Ellen
    • Detailed instructions manual on how to collect data from each EMR to be presented in the next couple of weeks, as well as a Data Dictionary. Once received it will pass to the Exec committee for approval and then shared with the group.
    • Once this is distributed we will ask clinics to respond for each indicator where the NPLC stands (red, green yellow). QIMMS will support clinics that are in yellow to get to green so data can be extracted.
    • QIMMs will be involved in training to explain each of the indicators. Organizing webinars for each indicators.
    • Suggested that QIMS should attend one of the meetings
    • Michelle Clifford-Medel will be reporting any new updates moving forward.
    • Postponement of the QIP – Mary Anne Beith
      • No updates or deadlines posted yet
      • Georgina suggested to look at previous components and flag innovative options that they are implementing, for example, virtual/phone consultations.
      • Glengarry received an update and will circulate with the group.
  • Consulting MD usage – Jessie Humble – deferred
  • NPLC Expansion Discussion
    • The group is interested in having an in-depth discussion about NPLC expansion.
    • Opportunities to seek funding with other community/regional organizations. Had some success stories with mental health funding, social work funding, etc.
    • Discuss  what factors affect expansion, foerexample, does it relates to whether or not the NPLC is already at the 800 patient capacity?
